For hunters, the spruce grouse quite possibly is one of the easiest game birds to kill. Myself, along with an accompaniment of seventeen undergraduate students, basically walked up on this bird during a forest ecology lab this afternoon. I was showing them a white spruce forest, when we came upon this plump bird, which perched motionless on a fallen branch while we looked on mere meters away.
